2020
Two-day workshop on Material and Techniques of Patchittra was conducted by artist Surendra Shoo, from 16 to 17 January 2020. The students learnt about the traditional materials and artistic practices in preparation Patchittra.

Mr. Sanjay Kumar, a freelance contemporary artist, conducted a workshop on Material and Technique of Painting from 13 to 15 January 2020 at National Museum Institute. The students learned the artistic practices of paintings on canvas and paper, using oil, acrylic and watercolor.

A workshop on ‘Material and Techniques of Miniature Paintings’ was conducted by Mr. Jai Prakash (National Awardee), on February 21, 2017. The students learnt about the traditional materials and artistic practices used in preparation of Miniature Paintings.

Master students of Art Conservation attended a workshop from February 8 to 13, 2017, on collection care jointly organised by the State Museum and Zoo, Trivandrum, Kerala in collaboration with the University of Applied Art Vienna, Austria.

A workshop on ‘Material and Techniques of Paintings’ was conducted by Mr. Sanjay Kumar, a contemporary artist from January 11-12, 2017. The students learned the artistic practices of paintings on canvas and paper using oil, acrylic and water-based pigments.

A workshop on ‘Conservation of Palm leaf Manuscripts’ was organized from November 23-25, 2016 by Dr. P. Perumal, a retired Conservator from Saraswathi Mahal Library, Thanjavur. The workshop focused on ancient methods and materials used for preservation as well as latest techniques in conservation of palm leaf manuscripts.

A workshop on ‘Conservation of Stained glass’ was organized from November 1-4, 2016 by Mr. M.N. Manikandan, an Art Conservator. The students learnt the technique of preparation, firing and conservation of stained glasses.

A workshop on ‘Preventive Conservation and Low-Tech Methods for Climate Control’ was organized on September 25, 2016 in collaboration with ICOM-CC Metal Working Group and IGNCA. The workshop was conducted jointly by Dr. David Thickett, a Senior Conservation Scientist at English Heritage, UK and Assistant Coordinator, ICOM-CC Metals Working Group.

The Third International Summer School on art conservation was organized at the University of Applied Arts Vienna from July 10-24, 2016. Five M.A. students from the Department of Conservation participated in the Summer school, which was designed to provide hands-on training on latest materials and techniques of conservation being followed internationally.

Workshop on “Conservation and Display of Historic textiles in Museum” organized by Department of Conservation, NMI in collaboration with University of Applied Arts, Vienna from February 11-15, 2013. One day Practical tour To City Palace, Jaipur which was organized by NMI where participants got an opportunity to have practical demonstration at the original artifacts.
