Study Tour of Maharashtra: Department of Conservation organised a 10 days’ study tour of Maharashtra for masters’ students of Department of Conservation. Prof. Manager Singh, head of the department led the group to several caves viz. Pithalkhora caves, Ellora caves, Aurangabad caves, Ajanta caves and took site lectures on these places. Group also visited Archaeological Science laboratory at Aurangabad and interacted with scientists working there. Couple of lectures were also arranged to introduce students with those scientific instruments and about the art objects and paintings present in the caves.
The students also visited Lonar crater, Aurangabad caves, Biwi Ka Makbara, Fariabad, Chand Biwi Ka Mahal, etc. to study many conservation issues. Students also visited Army tank museum to understand the conservation issues and display methods of such objects.
They also visited Deccan college in Pune. A full day lecture cum demonstration was arranged for the students to understand the various types of stones and their formation. They also visited Karle and Bhaja caves, Pataleshwar caves, Shaniwarwada and historical structures of Deccan College Pune.
The students learnt a lot in this study tour.
