Conservation Department has been working extensively on quality improvement programme which includes programs run by the dept in various states and programs held by alumni of NMI at various levels to create job opportunities for people of that area where they are working.
Dr. M.V. Nair, Head of Department, Conservation has organised many Programmes like:-
2010
- Capacity building program at Kerala by National Museum Institute from 22nd Dec., 2010 - 4th Jan., 2011. The aim was to generate enough Experts and also for the scientific study and conservation of Wall Paintings in Kerala. National Museum Institute held a workshop and training program for students and teachers to create awareness in the field of Conservation and Museology.
2011
- Capacity Building Programme for the artists was being organised by National Museum Institute in collaboration with Society for Protection of Cultural Heritage. The duration of this programme was for Seven days which started from 29th April, 2011.
- Capacity Building program on “Conservation of Paintings” at Edakkal and Maroyur in Kerala in collaboration with Department of Museums and Zoos and Department of Archaeology. Capacity Building programme at Mannanam was being organised by National Museum Institute for the establishment of People’s museum for St. Ephern`s Higher Secondary School in March 2011.
- This Program provided training in Conservation of painting to locally available manpower from different institutions and Universities of Kerala to become skilled conservators by taking in account the ethics and principles of Conservation of paintings in Kerala.
