Admission Notice-2007 for M.A. Courses

 

National Museum Institute of History of Art, Conservation & Museology (NMIHACM) is an autonomous body under the administrative control of the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, which is located at the National Museum, New Delhi. It offers specialized courses in History of Art, Conservation & Restoration of Works of Art, and Museology leading to the award of M.A.degrees in the concerned disciplines. It also awards 8 Merit Scholarships each @ Rs.20,000/- per semester and 8 Merit-cum-Means Scholarships each @ Rs.12,000/- per annum.

 

Applications on prescribed form are invited from eligible candidates for admission to M.A. courses for the session 2007 as per eligibility criteria given below:-

 

1.       M.A.(History of Art)

A Graduate degree from a recognized University. Good academic record with minimum 50% marks or equivalent grade at the graduate level.

Desirable: - A background in Social Sciences, Liberal Arts or Fine Arts.

2.       (Museology) Courses:

B.A./B.Sc.(Honours) or B.A./ B.Sc./ B.F.A.( 3 years) in any  discipline under Humanities and Social Sciences.

Desirable: A background/PG Diploma in subjects related to History of Art and Museum studies.

3.       M.A.( Conservation) Course:

A Graduate or Post-graduate degree in any  one of the following subjects- Chemistry /Physics/ Geology/ Botany/ Zoology / Computer Science /Fine Arts/ History/ History of Art/ Architecture /Archaeology /Museology/ Designing or Diploma recognized as equivalent to graduate degree in any of these fields.

 

Desirable Qualifications:

Knowledge of one classical/ foreign language such as Sanskrit, Persian, Arabic, Greek, Latin, German, French, Italian etc.

 

General:-

  1. Good Academic record with 50% and above marks at Graduate level is essential for admission to all M.A. courses. Relaxation in percentage to the notified categories will be as per Government orders.
  2. Candidates seeking admission to M.A.courses shall be expected to pass a written examination followed by interview.
  3. Reservation of seats for SC/ST etc. shall be as per Govt. rules.
  4. The Information Brochure can be had from the office of the Institute on payment of Rs.200/- (Rupees Two hundred only) in cash or Rs.250/- in the form of crossed Demand Draft payable to “NMIHACM” on any Nationalized Bank in New Delhi, if needed by post. The application on the prescribed form (annexed with the Information Brochure) duly supported by copies of Documents/Certificates should reach the Registrar by 25th June, 2007.

Admission Notice (Short Term Courses) -2007

 

 

Applications on prescribed forms are invited for admission to the three short –term courses (a) India Art & Culture (b) Art Appreciation (c) Bhartiya Kalanidhi (Hindi medium), each of 5 months duration spread over 20 lectures. Classes will be held once a week at the National Museum Institute. Forms with details may be obtained personally from the office of the Institute on payment of Rs.20/- in cash or Rs.50/- through Demand Draft payable to NMIHACM at New Delhi on any nationalized bank if required by post. Filled in applications affixed with photograph at appropriate place, may be submitted to the Registrar before 25th June, 2007. No formal qualification other than age (not less than 19 years) has been prescribed for admission to these courses. Maximum intake per course shall be 150 and the admission is available on “first come first serve” basis.
