ELEGIBILITY
CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION
The candidate should
possess such qualifications as may be prescribed by the Academic Council
from time to time. Presently the following qualifications are prescribed
for various courses:
M.A. (History of Art):
A Graduate Degree from a recognized University. Good academic record with
minimum 50% marks or equivalent grade at the graduate level.
Desirable : A background in Social Sciences, Liberal Arts or Fine Arts.
M.A. (Conservation):
Graduation or Post-graduation with any one of the following subjects -Chemistry/
Physics/ Geology/ Botany/ Zoology/ Computer Sci./ Fine Arts/ History /
History of Art/ Architecture/ Archaeology/ Museology/ Designing
Or Diploma recognized as equivalent to graduation degree in above fields.
M.A. (Museology):
B.A./B.Sc..(Hons) or B.A./B.Sc../B.F.A. (3 years) in any discipline under
Humanities and Social Sciences.
Desirable: A background/PG Diploma in subjects related to History of Art
and Museum Studies.
Ph.D. (for all
disciplines):
- A masters degree
from a recognized University / Institution of higher learning with high
second class (55% marks) in the subject concerned or related subject.
Relaxation in the marks for specified categories shall be as per Government
of India / University Grants Commission's orders / guidelines / notifications
issued form time to time.
- Candidate should
be of at least 22 years of age before his/her admission.
- Knowledge of two
foreign languages (other than English) / Indian languages (other than
mother tongue) is preferred. However, if the candidate does not possess
proficiency in these languages, he/she may be permitted to develop proficiency
during the course of his/her study. No degree shall be awarded unless
a student has acquired proficiency in any two of the above mentioned
languages and passed the examination prescribed/conducted by the Institute.
Short Term Certificate Courses
Presently, the Institute is offering three short-term courses of five
months duration viz. "India: Art & Culture", "Art
Appreciation" and Bhartiya Kalanidhi (Hindi medium). Each of these
courses consists of 20 lectures (each lecture of two hours duration).
No minimum qualifications other than age (candidates should not be below
19 years of age) are prescribed for admission to these certificate courses.
