Gandhi For All - 15th Workshop in the series - Workshop at University of Rajasthan, Jaipur, Rajasthan - 28th September, 2019
Department of Museology, NMI organized a workshop for the students of New Government Girls School in collaboration with University of Rajasthan at Jaipur, Rajasthan on 28th September to commemorate 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.
The workshop commenced with paying homage to Mahatama Gandhi followed by a welcome speech by Prof.K.G. Sharma, Director, Center for Museology and Conservation, University of Rajasthan and with Prof. (Dr) Manvi Seth introducing the theme of the workshop.
The workshop was an attempt to introduce the students to the world of museums through Mahatma Gandhi’s life, discussing about his philosophy on non-violence, satyagraha, self-reliance, his ideas on cleanliness, education, village development along with the constructive work programme which was initiated by him to promote education, use of swadeshi goods by encouraging people to imbibe self sustaining life style.
The workshop was organized under the guidance of Prof. (Dr) Manvi Seth, HoD, Museology and Dean, NMI by Research Assistants, Huma Khan, Sushant Bharti, Paloma Bhattacharjee and Sakshi Kukreti.
The workshop entailed the following:
- Story-telling session
- Photo Exhibition
- Discovery trunk and hands on experience
- Object related activities
- Distribution of ‘Gandhi for All' booklets
- My story- An autobiographical essay where students shared their experiences imagining themselves as different objects that belonged to Mahatma Gandhi or as Gandhiji himself
