A week long workshop on traditional Rug weaving was organized on the occasion of 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi at Gya village (Sasoma) Leh, Ladakh.

The workshop was organized by the department of Museology, National Museum Institute, New Delhi at Gya village (Sasoma) Leh, Ladakh from 16th of October 2018 to 22nd of October 2018. 15 women from the Gya village participated in the workshop.

Workshop started on 16th October with the introduction on Gandhiji’s life and self-reliance followed by hands on experience using replicas of objects used by Gandhi ji. The resource person introduced the participants with looms and weaving process.

On the last day of workshop the students and the teachers from primary and middle school of Gya village also participated in the workshop.
