A two-day Capacity Building Workshop on Intangible Cultural Heritage Date: 27th & 28th of August 2022.
A two-day Capacity Building Workshop on Intangible Cultural Heritage was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India at National Museum, New Delhi on 27th & 28th of August 2022.
The inaugural function was graced by the presence of Mr. Tim Curtis, Secretary, Safeguarding the Intangible Cultural Heritage, UNESCO and Mr. Eric Falt, Director, UNESCO, New Delhi Cluster.
Following the inaugural address by Ms. Lily Pandeya, Joint Secretary Ministry of Culture, and Mr. Eric Falt, day one of the workshop included dance ballet 'Devi Rising' by Shrimati Biswas & Troupe, Kolkata, screening of ICH film- Diverse Expression of Intangible.
Mr. Tim Curtis gave a presentation on 'ICH from UNESCO perspective', Prof. Manvi Seth in her address shed light on 'ICH Challenges and Future Prospect'. The case study of Community Museum, Gya Sasoma was presented by Prof. Manvi Seth. It was highlighted how the documentation of ICH by the department of Museology, NMI led to the setting up of a Community Museum in Ladakh. Ms. Ritu Sethi gave a talk on ' India and ICH'.
The two-day workshop also entails exhibition and stalls of Traditional Craftsmanship of Bengal celebrating the diverse cultural heritage of India.

Valedictory function marking the successful completion of the 15-day
(21st August 2019 to 3rd September 2019) training programme on 'Museology
and Museum Management' for the museum professionals. Date: 03rd September 2019
Valedictory function held at National Museum Institute on September 3, 2019 marking the successful completion of the 15-day Capacity Building Programme organised by the NMI and the Ministry of External Affairs under its ITEC programme for in-service museum professionals of the ITEC partner countries. The participants were from Afghanistan, Bhutan, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iraq, Nepal, Seychelles and Trinidad & Tobago.
Ms. Nirupama Kotru, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Culture, GOI graced the function with her presence as the Chief Guest while Dr. Devyani Khobragade, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs was invited as the ‘Guest of Honor’ to represent MEA.
Prof. Anupa Pande, Director, NMI delivered the welcome address for the function which was followed by the Summing-up address by the Co-ordinator for the programme -Prof. Manvi Seth, Dean, NMI HoD, Museology.
Ms. Nirupama Kotru, delivered the valedictory address and the ‘Guest of Honor’ Dr. Devyani deliberated about the ITEC initiatives of the MEA.
Participants from the each country also shared their feedback of the programme. Dr. Parduman Sharma, Registrar of the Institute closed the ceremony with his ‘Vote of Thanks’ which was followed by the Hi-Tea.

Department of Museology in collaboration with the Ministry of External Affairs is conducting a 15-day
training programme during the period from 21st August 2019 to 3rd September 2019 on 'Museology
and Museum Management' for the museum professionals from the Indian Technical and Economic
Cooperation programme (ITEC) partner countries. The cohort of participants are from diverse
professional background within the field of Museology.
On 21st August 2019, inaugural ceremony marking the commencement of the capacity building
programme held at NMI followed by the Guided tour of National Museum.

15-day (16th to 30th January 2019) training course for Museums, Archives and Heritage professionals in collaboration with the State Department of Archaeology, Govt. of Kerala and Institute of Archaeology, ASI, Delhi.
Department of Museology successfully organized and completed the 15-day training course for Museums, Archives and Heritage professionals in collaboration with the State Department of Archaeology, Govt. of Kerala and Institute of Archaeology, ASI, Delhi.
The programme focused on training the professionals through the specially designed course content encompassing the areas of Museology, Archaeology and Heritage conservation.
Total 24 participants from Kerala participated in the said training course. Lectures and interactive talk-sessions on different subjects and aspects of Museums, Archaeology and Conservation were delivered by the NMI faculty and the field experts.
The course included theory, practical sessions and field visits to Heritage sites and Museums in Delhi as well as a study tour to Jaipur. Participants visited different Museums and Heritage sites in Delhi and Jaipur for on-site study and observations and were given assignments on different aspects of Museums and heritage studies.
Presentations on the given assignment(s) were held on the last day of the course and certificates on successful completion of the course were distributed to the participants.

Special Course on ‘Museology And Conservation Techniques’, organized In Collaboration with the Ministry Of External Affairs:
Department of Museology, National Museum Institute organized a training programme from 05-09-2018 to 19-09-2018, for in-service museum professionals of MGC (Mekong-Ganga Co-operation) countries.
This special training course on ‘Museology and Conservation Techniques’, was jointly held in the collaboration with Ministry of External Affairs under its Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) programme.
The professionals participated in this programme were from Cambodia, Vietnam and Thailand. Department of Museology designed the course with theory and practical sessions, field visits to different museums and interactive talk-sessions with the experts from the field.
