Onsite lecture at the National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy on 22nd September, 2022
The Department of History of Art had organised an onsite lecture at the National Crafts Museum & Hastkala Academy on 22th September 2022. The lecture was organised for the students of 2nd and 4th semester, under their course on ‘Folk and Tribal Art’. The lecture and tour was given by Mr. Rajinder Singh. The onsite lecture helped the students in understanding the Folk and Tribal Art by seeing the original artefacts in the gallery.

The Department of History of Art had organised an onsite lecture at the National Gallery of Modern Art on 20th September 2022. The lecture was organised for the students of 2nd and 4th semester, under their course on ‘Modern Indian Art’. The lecture was given by Dr. Rahul Dev. The onsite lecture helped the students in understanding the Modern Indian Art by seeing the original artefacts in the gallery.

Onsite lecture at the National Museum for M.A. 2nd and 4th semester students on 16th August 2022
The Department of History of Art has organised an onsite lecture at the National Museum for M.A. 2nd and 4th semester students on 16th August 2022 as a part of their course on ‘Early Indian Art’. The lecture and tour was given by Ms. Moumita Dhar, Assistant Curator, National Museum. The onsite lecture helped the student in understanding the art of Indus Valley Civilization by seeing the original artefacts in the gallery.

On site Lecture and Tour at National Museum on 20th July 2022
The Department of History of Art has organised an onsite lecture and tour of the ongoing exhibitions on ‘Company Painting: Visual Memoirs of Nineteenth-Century India’ and ‘Kashi: The Eternal City at the National Museum for M.A 2nd and 4th semester students on 20th July 2022. The lecture and tour was given by Dr. Savita Kumari, Assistant Professor of History of Art, NMI, along with Ms. Supriya, Lahoti, Consultant, National Museum. The onsite lecture helped the student in understanding and study the rare collection of Company painting from various museums. In another exhibition on Varanasi, the students saw the diverse collection of artworks that attempts to trace the religious, cultural, and creative aspects of the oldest city ‘Kashi’ through material history, memory, and mythology. They also studies the importance of safeguarding cultural heritage with reference to Kashi Vishwanath Temple Corridor.The students also got the chance to meet the eminent artists Gulam Mohammed Sheikh and Nilima Sheikh in the Company painting exhibition.

A one-day educational trip to Government Museum, Mathura and Kusum Sarovar, Govardhan on 08th April, 2022
The Departments of History of Art organised a one-day educational trip to Government Museum, Mathura and Kusum Sarovar, Govardhan for their MA students of 3rd Semester on 8th April, 2022. This trip helps the student to understand the development of Mathura school of art from Kushan to Gupta Period by visually seeing the sculpture of Government Museum of Mathura. In Govardhan, they explore the Kusum Sarovar, Maharaja Suraj Mal’s memorial chhatris.

The Department of History of Art, National Museum Institute organized an on-site lecture in Qutub Complex and Hauz Khas Madrasa for 3rd semester students, as a part of their ongoing course on Indian Architecture (High Medieval Period) on 30 March 2022. The on-site lecture and training was given by Dr Savita Kumari, Assistant Professor (HOA), National Museum Institute which helped the students in understanding the origin, evolution, and symbolism of Islamic art and architecture.

The Department of History of Art organized a one day filed visit and an on-site lecture in Huaz Khas Madrasa, Lodhi Garden and Humayun Tomb for 2nd and 4th semester students, as a part of their ongoing course on Indian Architecture (High Medieval Period) on 19th February 2020. The on-site talk and training was given by Dr Savita Kumari, which helped the students in understanding the evolution and development of Islamic art and architecture from Sultanate period as well as Mughal.

The Department of History of Art, National Museum Institute organised a three days educational tour for 2nd semester and 4th semester M.A. students in Agra, Fatehpur Sikri and Kusum Sarovar from 5th to 7th February 2020 as part of their ongoing course on ‘Indian Architecture (High Medieval Period). Students have covered various sites such as Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Itmad Ud Daulah, Tomb of Akbar, Fatehpur Sikri and Kusum Sarovar. The on-site training and lecture was given by Dr Savita Kumari and other experts from the field which helped the students to understand the art and architecture of Mughal Period.

Educational Trip to Government Museum, Mathura and Govind Dev Temple, Vrindavan
The Departments of History of Art organised a one-day educational trip to Government Museum, Mathura and Govind Dev Temple, Vrindavan for their MA students of 3rd Semester on 4th October, 2019. This trip helps the student to understand the development of Mathura school of art from Kushan to Gupta Period by visually seeing the sculpture of Government Museum of Mathura. In Vrindavan, they explore the seven-story structure of Govind Dev Temple, build by Raja Man Singh of Jaipur in 1590 under the rule of Mughal emperor Akbar.

Educational Tour to National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi on 4th September, 2019
The 3rd semester students of History of Art were taken to National Gallery of Modern Art for field visit on 4th September, 2019 as a part of their course on Modern Indian Art. The students explored the rich collection of Modern Indian Art as well as Contemporary Indian Art and had a detail discussion on important artworks.

Educational Tour to National Gallery of Modern Art, Delhi on 14th August, 2019
The 3rd semester students of History of Art attended ‘100th Anniversary of the March 1st Independence Movement: One Shiny Day’ at National Gallery of Modern Art, New Delhi on 14th August, 2019 as a part of their course on Modern Indian Art. The event was organised by the National Gallery of Modern Art and Daegu Art Museum, Korea in collaboration with Korean Cultural Centre, India.

Field Visit to Drishyakala
The Department of History of Art organised a field visit to the ‘Drishyakala Art Museum’ at Red Fort on July 17th, 2019 for the students of the IIIrd Semester. As part of their curriculum of Modern Indian Art, the students studied the ongoing exhibition ‘Oriental Scenery: Aquatints of India by Thomas Daniell and William Daniell.’ The field visit was aimed towards making the students understand the technique and style of Company School of Painting.

Educational Tour to Karnataka
The Department of History of Art and Conservation, National Museum Institute, organized a seven-day educational tour to Karnataka for the 4th semester M.A. students from 13th to 19th January 2019. The students covered the UNESCO World Heritage sites of Hampi, Aihole, badami, Pattadakal and Bijapur.
The tour aimed to give students a first hand experience to understand and appreciate the architecture and art from the period of Chalukya and Vijayanagar Empire in Karnataka. It also helped the students to learn about the architecture, culture and history of the region.

Educational Tour focused on the "TANGIBLE AND INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE OF KERALA"
The Department of History of Art, National Museum Institute, in collaboration with the Centre of Intangible Heritage Studies, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady; Faculty of History of Art, Raja Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts, Mavelikkara and Guru Gopinath National Dance Museum, Vattiyoorkavu, Thiruvananthapuram, organized a seven-day educational tour focused on the “Tangible and Intangible Cultural Heritage of Kerala” for the 4th semester M.A. History of Art students from 19th to 25th January 2018.
The tour aimed at inculcating in the students an understanding and appreciation of both the tangible and intangible heritage of Kerala. It also aimed at giving the students an experiential, hands-on method to learn about and analyse the art, architecture, culture and history of the region and their interrelationships. To this extent, a workshop on “Intangible Heritage” was organized by the Centre of Intangible Heritage Studies, Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit, Kalady, on 19th January 2018; another workshop on “The Mural Paintings of Kerala” was organized by Faculty of History of Art, Raja Ravi Varma College of Fine Arts, Mavelikkara, on 22nd January 2018 and finally, a workshop on “Linking Museums with General Education” was organized by Guru Gopinath National Dance Museum, Vattiyoorkavu, Thiruvananthapuram, on 23rd January 2018.
