Capacity Building Programme with Napier Museum, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala
The Department of History of Art, National Museum Institute, organized a Capacity Building Programme for the staff members of Napier Museum, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala, on 5th and 6th March 2018. On 5th March 2018, the team from Thiruvananthapuram was given a tour of the Qutb Complex to understand the origins, evolution, visual characteristics, symbolism and structure of Islamic art and architecture. They were also shown some of the sculptures of the collection of the National Museum to appreciate their iconography, materials, style and other characteristics. A more comprehensive tour of the National Museum was undertaken by them on 6th March 2018 when the team visited the various museum galleries to explore the various aspects of the rich cultural heritage of India.

Communication and Interpretation in Museums
The National Museum Institute in collaboration with the British Council and Flow conducted a training workshop on communication and interpretation in Museums on September 8th and 9th, 2011. Participants were from a range of prestigious institutions from across the country. The two-day programme was fully participatory and included talks, discussions and group activities. It provided an opportunity for museum professionals to exchange ideas and experience. The trainers were from prestigious Museums and Institutions of UK. The workshop was coordinated by Prof. (Dr.) Anupa Pande and co-coordinated by Savita Kumari.
