The National Museum Institute of the History of Art, Conservation and Museology was formed and registered on January 27, 1989 under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 and was accorded the status of 'Deemed to be University' on April 28, 1989. Since its inception, the Institute has been one of the leading centres in the country for training and research in the field of art and cultural heritage. The Institute is situated within the premise of the National Museum with an objective that students can have direct exposure to the masterpieces of art and cultural heritage and have easy access to the facilities of the National Museum such as its laboratory, library, storage/reserve collection and technical support sections for a holistic learning.

Recruitment Notice : Research Fellow on contractual basis

Applications on plain papers are invited from eligible candidates for two posts of Research Fellow on contractual basis on a consolidated fellowship/stipend of Rs.35000/- per month initially for a period of one year for the projects under Department of Conservation.

Annual Conference : CIDOC 2015 - The International Committee for Documentation of ICOM

The annual conference of CIDOC, the International Committee for Documentation of ICOM, will take place from 5th -10th of September 2015 in New Delhi, India. Anyone interested from museums and cultural organizations is cordially invited to participate.

The conference starts with a series of workshops on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th of September 2015. The main conference is opened on Monday 7th of September 2015.

Parallel sessions on the different conference themes take place on the following three days (7th to 9th September). On Thursday 10th of September the attendees could join different excursions.

The main theme of the conference is Documenting Diversity – Collections, Catalogues & Context”.
